I bought some of the Photoshop Actions – so how do I install them?
This is different for Photoshop CS and Photoshop Elements. First things first, download your file, unzip the contents, and place them into a folder. A lot of people like to put them in the adobe folder, but that isn’t necessary. Also, BACK UP YOUR FILES!
For Photoshop CS – Open up your actions menu on the right-hand side. If you don’t see it, you can go to Window>Actions. In the Actions panel. Click “Load Actions” and then navigate to where you unzipped the folder! Find the name of the action set and click ok! That’s it!
It’s a little but more complicated for Photoshop Elements, but it still can be done. First, make sure Photoshop Elements is closed.
WINDOWS:
Open up My Computer > C: > programdata > Adobe > Photoshop Elements > **version number** > Photo Creations > Photo Effects.
A few notes: Program Files is not the same as programdata. If you can’t see programdata, go to the start menu, enter “folder options” in the search menu. Open the folder options program, and click “view” from the tabs. In the list on the view page, there is a button titled “show hidden files, folders, drives.” Make sure that box is checked off!
MAC:
The path is a little bit different for Mac. It’s Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Photoshop Elements > **version number** >Photo Creations > Photo Effects.
Now that we’re all in the same place – in the ZIP folder you downloaded, there is the action set, plus a .png file with the exact same name. Copy BOTH of the files into the Photo Effects folder.
You can re-open Photoshop Elements now. Your actions will be located under the Photo Effect panel.
If you don’t see them right away, you can try restarting your computer.
What if I lose my downloaded files?
Well, we recommend making sure to back everything up on a disk or external drive in case that happens.
Okay, but even then best of us still lose our stuff – so now what?
Email us at info@redkitchenpresets.com and we’ll work something out.
What other products can we expect in the future?
the red kitchen plans to put out a whole line of Photographer’s Resources. Our next phase is to roll out business dynamics (contracts, forms and other essential business resources), then photography guides, some Photoshop templates, then our fabulous textures. We will also be expanding our Lightroom products as soon as they are ready.
