Cooking Instructions – Lightroom

I bought some of the Lightroom Presets – so how do I install them?
Piece of cake! When you’re working on the Develop menu, look to the left. Do you see the presets tab? Open that up, then right-click inside. It will give you a few options. The first one we recommend is “New Folder” so you can keep track of your presets more easily. Then right-click again, and select “import.” Now all you have to do is remember where you saved them when you downloaded them!

Okay smartie-pants, what about the adjustment brushes?
Adobe has made this a little bit more difficult. But that’s okay, we can handle it! Simply go to your “edit” drop-down menu, and then select “preferences.” This brings up a box, where you will select the “presets” tab. About half way down you’ll see a “show Lightroom presets folder.” Click it! Now we know where your master directory is! Now, if you’re on a Mac, it’s going to take you directly to the Develop Presets folder (probably). From there you navigate back until you see the list where Develop Presets is at the top. Now you select “Local Adjustment Presets.” For Windows Users, when you click that button, it’s going to take you to a folder, where you want to select “Lightroom > Local Adjustment Presets.” Now that we’re all in the same place, open the folder you downloaded after your purchase. You’re going to take all those files, and copy them into that “Local Adjustment Presets” folder. Now all you have to do is restart Lightroom!

What if I lose my downloaded files?
Well, we recommend making sure to back everything up on a disk or external drive in case that happens.

Okay, but even then best of us still lose our stuff – so now what?
Email us at redkitchenpresets@gmail.com and we’ll work something out.

What other products can we expect in the future?
the red kitchen plans to put out a whole line of Photographer’s Resources. Our next phase is to roll out business dynamics (contracts, forms and other essential business resources), then photography guides, some photoshop templates, then our fabulous textures. We will also be expanding our Lightroom products as soon as they are ready.
